The Causes of Appendicitis
Appendicitis is in a close connection to a blocking of the lumen, the inner appendix, blockage that increases the pressure, produces weakness of the blood flow and leads to an inflammation.
The cause of appendicitis relates to blockage of the inside of the appendix, known as the lumen. Serious consequences, as gangrene or rupture may appear, unless appendicitis is treated in time.
The obstruction of the appendix can be provoked, in many cases, by faeces, but also by infections produced by factors of viral or bacterial nature appeared in the digestive tract. The last ones can produce nodes of lymph, which will eventually obstruct the appendix. Scientifically, the swelling of these lymph nodes is called lymphoid hyperplasia. Appendicitis is seldom caused by genetic inheritance (previous cases appeared inside a family, may predispose the descendants to it), or by traumatisms of the abdomen.
